In 2020, the 16th edition of the International Ex Libris Competition (Ex Libris - Ex Inventions) was held, organized by Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library - Ruse. Artists had the opportunity to interpret the vast world of inventions through the forms of small graphics. The international ex-libris competition is organized under the patronage and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Ruse.
207 participants from 29 countries (Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, China, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, Bulgaria, etc.) sent 318 works. The doyen among the participants was again Arpad Salamon from Slovenia, a Hungarian by birth, born in 1930, who has participated in the competition from 2007 until now. The youngest participant in the forum was Rada Moskova from Samokov, 4 years old.
Jury of the competition with Chairman Prof. Dr. Magardich Kasapyan - Lecturer at Prof. Asen Diamandiev Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts - Plovdiv (Bulgaria), and members: Anna Tikhonova (Belarus), Snezana Kezele (Serbia), Vlado Goreski (Northern Macedonia) and Ivan Tokadzhiev (Bulgaria), selected the works and determined the Grand Prix. In 2020, the award was given to Polina Krasimirova Nikolova for her work "Cliché Ii". Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library gave its award to Jocelyn Benoit from Canada for her work "Ex Inventions 2". Vitaliy Bondar from Belarus won a sponsorship award from the Ruse Chamber of Commerce for his work "Growth Innovation".
In the category up to 18 years old, 46 participants sent their works - students from Bulgaria, Russia, China and others. The award in this category was given by Rotary Club - Ruse to Emil Cholakov from the Plovdiv Mathematical High School "Acad. Kiril Popov" (Bulgaria) for his work "Flight".
