The XIV International Ex Libris Competition Ex Libris - EX LITTERA was attended by a record number of artists - 373, from 42 countries. The artists are from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Israel, Peru, Chile, Malaysia, Egypt, Japan, China, India, Brazil, Argentina and others. For the first time in the race, representatives of the Mauritius Island and the the Siberian Republic of Hakassia, which is part of the Russian Federation, took part in the race. The jury of the competition was composed of: Prof. Svetoslav Kokalov; Prof. Bozhidar Yonov; Prof. Nikolay Drachev; Ivan Tokadzhiev. After a difficult but precise selection and a serious examination of the drawings sent within the stipulated timeframes, the commission has awarded the following prizes: THE GREAT PRIZE is awarded to Maurizio Schwarzman from Argentina. He has solo exhibitions in Japan, Brazil, Spain, Lithuania, Argentina, Poland, Denmark. He participates for the 12th time in our contest. The Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library Prize goes to Poland, and its winner is Agnieszka Lipska. The Polakinia participated for the third time in the competition. She has shown her work in more than 80 exhibitions around the world, both independent and general. The sponsorship awards were also awarded by competition rules and by tradition: PROMONT LTD was awarded the honor of Galina Pavlova from Bulgaria; The Rotary Club Ruse Award is also in Bulgarian address, and Krassimira Drenska is the winner. Zonta Club - Ruse - Prize for Sandro Chinellato from Italy; The distinction of the information site "Ruse Info" - Sarah Husien from Egypt; Award of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (CEIBG) - Ruse - Mirjana Tijanic of Serbia. Award of BSC SME - Ruse - Denitsa Ivancheva Ivanova - Alexandrova from Bulgaria. And a prize of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce - Anna Ottani from Italy. For prizes in the category up to 18 years - or so-called "New millennium generation", 52 participants - students from China, Argentina, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Bulgaria - deposited their works. The highest award in this new segment of the competition was won by Aleksandra Biegala from Poland, born in 2003. In 2018 the International Ex Libris Competition was again under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and was implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Municipality of Ruse under the Program "Culture" and the Municipal foundation "Ruse - free spirit city"
