In 2025, the 21st International Competition "EX LIBRIS – EX AVIATION" 2025 was held, organized by the Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library – Ruse, under the patronage and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.
A total of 315 works were submitted by 233 participants from 23 countries (Bulgaria, Turkey, Poland, Argentina, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Romania, Hungary, Russia, Italy, Norway, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Ukraine, Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia, Belgium, Austria, Belarus, Spain, Croatia).
The doyen among this year's participants is Gyorgy Boros, a Hungarian by origin, living in Serbia, born in 1934, who has been participating in the competition since 2014. The youngest artist is participating in the forum for the fifth time. She was born in 2015 and her name is Magdalena Alexandrova.
The judging was carried out by a team of experts consisting of: Prof. Vladimir Ivanov, Bulgaria, Chair – Professor of Visual Arts at Varna Free University; Prof. Hristo Tsatsinov, Bulgaria – Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and St. Methodius"; Veselin Gospodinov, Bulgaria – art teacher at Brand-Erbisdorf Secondary School, Saxony, Germany; Nuno Canelas (Portugal), founder, curator, and director of the International Biennial of Graphic Art in Douro and Global Print (Portugal); Ovidiu Croitoru, Romania – professor in the Department of Graphic Art at the National University of Arts in Bucharest.
The GRAND PRIX of the competition was won by Diana Markova, Bulgaria, for her work "Wood Zeppelin."
THE AWARD OF THE REGIONAL LIBRARY "LYUBEN KARAVELOV" – RUSE is awarded to Pavel Delekta (Poland) for the work "Ex Libris – Ex Aviation Wright Brothers National Museum in Dayton."
Sponsor awards were given by: The Zahari Stoyanov Foundation – to Magdalena Alexandrova (Dolna Oryahovitsa) for her work "Flight"; RuseInfo – to Buse Nur Yildirim (Turkey) for her work "Buse Nur Yildirim"; Ruse Chamber of Commerce – for Alexandra S. Vogler (Austria) for the work "Passion"; Rotary Club – for Mariusz Artur Danski (Poland) for the work "Ex libris – Ex aviation"; Lions Club – Ruse – for Ruta Mozuraite (Lithuania) for the work "Ex libris – Ex aviation"; Rotary Club Ruse – Danube – for Isabel Slavcheva (Sofia) for the work "Still life"; MD Group Invest – Lombardi – Ruse – Eleonora Vasileva (Burgas) for her work "Symbiosis." Maya Cholakova (Sofia) received an award from the friends of the library for her work "Child's Dream."
All artists who participated in the competition will receive a Certificate of Participation, and the winners will receive a diploma.
