READER SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Circulation - offers services to readers above the age of 14. Fiction and poetry, school and scientific books are lent. The number of books lent at the same time to one person is 5 titles for a period of 20 days. 

Free Internet access is available.

Reading Room - provides periodicals, books, standards and collections of valuable and rare editions to readers for use in the library only. The databases of Ciela law information system. Free Internet access is available.

Foreign Languages Learning – provides textbooks, fiction books, audio and video and electronic documents, periodicals, information on foreign language teaching qualification courses, language training abroad and languages courses in Ruse. Foreign language lessons are held upon request. There is a Goethe Institute – Bulgaria resource centre and a French centre. 

Arts Sector – offers specialized art publications to the users, such us periodicals, books, albums, sheet music, gramophone records, audio tapes and CD, DVD videos, reproductions of paintings. This department features a music studio with modern equipment to listen to music and make copies of musical works.

Children’s Sector – Fiction, schoolbooks and popular science books are available in this department. Newspapers and magazines, books, CD and DVD films, lists of recommended readings for 1st – 7th grades students are offered. The department organizes exhibitions of children’s artworks, quizzes, contests and summer programmers for kids. There is a special place for the youngest. Free internet access is offered.

Book Depository – the library collections are stored there. Perform readers’ orders to borrow library materials for the reading room.

RESOURCE SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Reference and bibliographic services and interlibrary loan – users can order written thematic bibliographies, recommended bibliographic lists, bibliographies. Remote services are available by email and phone, an annual subscription to companies and individuals for current information on a specific topic. Interlibrary loan executes an order of library materials from other libraries.

Local history, Regional studies, Editing and publishing services - provides information about the Ruse region from ancient times to the present day in periodicals, books, photographs, maps, manuscripts, computer printouts. Written bibliography lists and bibliographic indexes are available on order. Regional studies are performed. 

A special section is supported on the Library’s web site.

Training and Qualification Sector - provides trainings for acquiring basic computer skills and Internet usage.

Automation Sector- supports automated processes and activities in the library.

Methodological activities Sector- provides coordination and expert consulting support for libraries of Ruse region. Collects processes and analyses the information about the libraries in the area.

Public Relations - implements an awareness policy of the community about the mission, activities and initiatives of the Library.

Bindery - performs bookbinding activity. 

 FUNDS AND CATALOGUES DEPARTMENT

Acquisition Sector– Currently performs supplementing and renovating the library funds with new documents.

Processing and cataloguing – incoming library materials are processed and catalogued. A system of catalogues in traditional and electronic form is maintained.

Periodicals Sector- received in the library periodicals are maintained, processed and available for use to readers.

FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT 

Carries out financial and economic activity of the library and maintains the material and technical base.
